Boxing Ireland

From: irishtinker (irishtinker@earthlink.net) | Date: 2003-05-17 19:46:07 UTC-04:00

I know there are boxes in Ireland (I accidentally found the clues to one on
line about a month ago) but I can't seem to find a website listing the clues
for Ireland.

Any ideas?

See if you can find some contact e-mails for the Dartmoor group. Maybe
they'd be able to point you in the right direction.

Actually, I don't think there are more than 2 in Ireland:
http://www.letterboxing-germany.de/irishclues.htm

Those are the same two boxes planted by the Dartmoor Bounders and listed on
their page here:

The Dartmoor Letterboxing Club might know more:

Hi Irish Tinker and everyone,
The Dartmoor Sqeeeezeboxers here.
indeed, there are only two irish letterboxes at the moment, both
planted by us during our summer vacation to the Wicklow Mountains
last year. What a beautiful country full of friendly folk!
So Todd & Anne, if you manage a trip back home to Ireland, for your
interest i have included the clues below.
Clues are given in typical Dartmoor style, using grid referece from
Ordnance Survey mapping.
Do choose a clear day (when it stops raining)to take in the
outstanding mountain scenery, but be prepared for a full days
strenuous hike to get the Lugnaquillia box.

IRELAND-WICKLOW MOUNTAINS-GLENDALOUGH-VM,GRID.082.948, In times of
attack by invaders the monks of Glendalough are said to have hidden
their treasures nearby at the Prezen Rock. From saddle between
Mullacor and Lugduff take NNW track around Lugduff until Glendalough
monastic round tower bears 69.5 . Walk uphill 15p to box under 4'x
1.5' high rock. Cone of Croaghanmoira on skyline 176.5 . Board walk
tee junction at the Wicklow Way 147 . The Prezen Rock is below and
unseen.

IRELAND-WICKLOW MOUNTAINS-LUGNAQUILLIA-VM,GRID.032.918, Highest - Box
under two small thin slabs forming an inverted V'. From summit cairn
walk 95p 150 . Cone of Croaghanmoira 135.5 . Large boulder on
skyline 281 .

Just love your LbNA site!
We do look at your message board with great interest.
Happy hunting ,
